North Battleford & the Town of Battleford are two communities located in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada surrounded by the North Saskatchewan and Battle Rivers.
North Battleford & the Town of Battleford are top heritage destinations in Saskatchewan, Canada detailing the history of the First Nation people, the North West Mounted Police, the railroad and the early European pioneers who first settled in the region.
The history of the City of North Battleford (located north of the North Saskatchewan River) begins with the arrival of the railroad in the early 1900s. The history of the Town of Battleford (located south of the North Saskatchewan River) begins with the construction of the 1876 North West Mounted Police fort.
To tell the story of the Battlefords there are museums, pioneers villages, heritage buildings, art galleries, historic grave sites, events, walking tours and battle grounds. The main historic attraction being the Fort Battleford National Historic Site of Canada located in the Town of Battleford.
